Connect Philips TV

Set up the experimental Philips JointSpace connection in Remote Control for TV.

Support for the Philips connection is experimental and requires a TV with JointSpace network control. Compatibility depends on the model and firmware. Remote Helper is not required.

For Philips models running Android TV, Google TV, or Roku, choose that device type in the app and follow its setup guide:

Prepare Your TV

  1. Connect the TV and your iPhone or iPad to the same local network. A TV connected to the router by Ethernet can work with an iPhone on that router’s Wi-Fi.
  2. Allow Local Network access for the app in iPhone or iPad Settings. See the local network guide if the permission is disabled.
  3. Keep the TV awake while pairing. Some TVs will not show a PIN or approval prompt while sleeping.
  4. Enable network remote control in the TV settings, if available.

Pair in the App

  1. Open Add Device and choose Philips TV, marked Experimental.
  2. Select your TV when it appears.
  3. Enter the 4-digit PIN shown on the TV if the app asks for it. Some Philips TVs connect without a PIN.
  4. Open the saved TV and try navigation and playback using the controls offered by the app.

If the TV Does Not Appear

In the Philips device list, use Manual connection · Experimental. Find the TV’s local IP address in its network settings, enter it in the app, leave the default port in place, and tap Add TV. Open the saved device and complete any pairing prompt. Manual connection still requires a reachable TV with remote access enabled.

If connection or pairing fails:

  1. Check that both devices are on the same home network. Guest Wi-Fi or network isolation can prevent devices from reaching each other.
  2. Recheck the app’s Local Network permission and the TV’s remote-device access settings.
  3. Retry with the TV awake and watch for a fresh PIN prompt.
  4. Confirm that your TV supports JointSpace. For Android TV, Google TV, or Roku models, use the corresponding device type and guide above.

Available Controls

Use the remote keypad for supported navigation, playback, volume, and power commands. Input switching appears when the TV reports support. The Philips connection does not offer app launching, keyboard text entry, or a touchpad. Wake from standby depends on the TV’s network settings and firmware.

Philips support through this mode is experimental. If it still fails, contact support with the TV model, software version, and whether discovery, PIN pairing, or a particular control failed.
