Remote Mouse & Keyboard includes an Apple TV remote. Add Apple TV as its own device to control it directly; Mac AirPlay is a separate feature for changing a Mac’s output.
Connect Apple TV
- Connect your iPhone or iPad and Apple TV to the same local network.
- Open the device list, tap Add Device, and choose Apple TV. Use Show All if your onboarding choices filtered the device types.
- Follow the setup instructions, select the discovered Apple TV, and enter the pairing code shown on the TV when prompted.
- Open the saved device to use its remote. A computer helper is not required for TV control.

Remote
Use the remote keypad for navigation, playback, and supported power commands. Volume and mute depend on the Apple TV’s connected audio equipment and HDMI-CEC support; they cannot replace an infrared-only volume remote.
Touchpad and Keyboard
Use the touchpad for navigation and playback gestures. Open the keyboard to enter text in a supported Apple TV text field. Available keyboard layouts include standard text, URL, email, and numbers. Keyboard presentation can follow a text-entry request from Apple TV.
Apps and Shortcuts
The app launcher lists available Apple TV apps. Choose an app to open it. Apple’s Shortcuts app offers [TV] Open TV Device, Send Remote Key, Launch TV App, and other actions supported by your saved TV.
